Welcome to my website! My name is Egmont Schröder and I am a freelance translator for English-German and Chinese-German and a copywriter. On this page you will find out everything about my background, my services and my working methods.
Thanks to my absolute adherence to deadlines and careful work, I have been able to win many clients during my career I have. For me, a successful translation project is much more than simply editing words and sentences. I value interaction with the client so that they receive the desired product in the end.
During my work I also try to understand the text in the whole context and compare it to previously translated texts, which inevitable includes a thorough research of internet resources and reference data.

Effective, Fast and Creative Language Services
In 2014, I completed my bachelor's degree in Sinology and Linguistics and have been working freelance since then. I offer translations, proofreading, corrections and transcreations for English-German and Chinese-German. Please note that I only translate into my native language (German); I won't fulfill other requests.
As a qualified dietician, I acquired medical knowledge that is significant prerequisite for translations in the field of medicine and chemistry. The translation of operating instructions, consent forms, package inserts and leaflets, study protocols, clinical trial reports, market analyses and documentation for regulatory authorities is therefore part of my standard offering.
During my linguistics studies, I also attended lectures in computer linguistics, where I deepened my understanding of IT and computer science. Computer Science is a subject that interests me personally, I have basic knowledge of programming (HTML, CSS, Python). Because of this background, I successfully completed numerous translations in the fields IT and technology (localisations, manuals and operating instructions, marketing materials, tenders, etc.) to the utter satisfaction of my customers.

About me
I was born in Munich and grew up in a small town in southern Germany. After graduating from high school, I graduated as a dietician because I originally wanted to pursue a medical career. However, I noticed that my interests are more in languages and faraway countries, which is why I went to Australia for a working holiday after my training. This was followed by two years in Taiwan, during which I was able to improve my Mandarin skills. However, as this did not satisfy my curiosity, I decided to study linguistics and sinology at Ludwig Maximilian University, which I completed with a bachelor's degree. Since then, I have been working as a freelance language service provider with my main residence in Germany, but I spend a few months a year in the Republic of China with my wife's family.
